WHO CAN BE A RIDE LEADER/COACH?

Anyone who can ride a bike with us. If you have a mountain bike, can ride it, and want to share your time and care with us, you can join us.

Core requirements are:

You have a mountain bike you can ride
You register as a ride leader/coach
1. You pass a background check
You take the training required for at least level 1 in the NICA Pitzone certification system.
You care about the kids, the coaches, and helping us all accomplish our mission.

First, we want to clarify the following: There is a difference between the certification level you get and the role you play. What we mean is this - you can be a level 2 or 3 and not be an “assistant coach”, but you can’t be an assistant coach unless you are a level 2 or 3. Anyone can take the training for any level, and we encourage it. It is super valuable. And anyone can be a ride leader who wishes and completes the requirements. However, we will ask people to be coaches. The assistant coach position carries extra responsibilities and we need to be able to depend on you for those roles. We want at least 1 coach per ride group, and 2 where we can. This could mean that we have 10-15 assistant coaches and 20-25 ride leaders, etc.
